UN CHAPTERS TANZANIA NETWORK PROFILE
UN Chapters Tanzania Network (UNC) was established in 2009 at Dodoma during the Tanzania Model UN. The Tanzania Model UN was attended by Youth of United nation Member from Higher Learning Instution including University of Dar es Salaam, St. Augustine University of Mwanza and Mzumbe University of Morogoro who saw the necessity of furthering the work of YUNA in higher learning Institution.
UNC was established so as to coordinate UN Chapters (existing and the coming), suistain and develop UN Chapters in their respective Universities. It has been acting as a link betwee UN Chapters, YUNA Tanzania and UN system. UNC work under the supervision of YUNA Executive Commitee to foster the UN Agendas among Youth in Higher Learning Institution through differents Events and Activities. This event has given YUNA Member an opportunity to serve their own community as well as building their skills and brodening their knowledge not only on the UN but also on International Affairs in general.
UNC has been able to penetrate in many colleges and Univeristy and establish new chapters to make sure that Tanzania youth get the forum as much as possible to work for their country and world atlarge. It is now operating in 33 Colleges and Higher Learning Institution In Tanzania.Since its establishment UNC has been able to organise different trainings on Leadership Skills, Project Management, Budget Monitoring and Evaluation and the like.It has been able to offer humanitarian services to people affected buy either social economic or natural calamities eg UN Chapter member have been offering humanitarian services in Gongo la Mboto and Jangwani to people affected by bomb explosion and floods.
Organising different conferences on different UN agendas has been one of the focus and achievement of UNC. As its currently coodinating the AIDS YOUTH REGIONAL COMMITTEE in Ten Regions of Tanzania which are the outcome of the Conference on HIV AIDS held in Dec 2011. Yearly organising Child Labour Day, Environment Day as well as Diabets Day.
The UN Chapters Tanzania Network in collaboration with YUNA has been Increasing and sustain partneship with local NGO’s and International NGO’s. UNC is now working with Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Children,Ministry of Labour an Employment, Proffessional Approach. Cultural Center of Islamic Rebluc of Iran, Palestine Embassy, UN HIV Joint Team, Cocacola Kwanza Company and Clouds Entertainment Company.
